The end of the Television age
Young students and children are gradually killing the TV as they are getting better substitutes to replace the same. In a survey conducted recently it had been found revealed that nearly one third of young British individuals would watch television programs on other devices like computers. It was also shown that most 16 to 24-year-olds would spend at least 10 per cent more time on the internet than they do watching television. There are various other factors like these, which are gradually resulting in low viewing of the TV and more interest in technical gadgets like MP3 players. The Broadband, which enables internet connection speeds far, is also allowing higher quality television. Hence a lot of kids are now watching TV on the web or using their laptops to get wireless internet to access videos. They are also using computers which are far cheaper and more portable than ever before. Hence most of the students are seen with their laptops and fast internet connections instead of sitting in front of the television. The young audiences are rejecting the traditional forms of media as these are being fundamentally challenged by the internet.
Basically the television as tied to a box in the living room and young students want to make it accessible from as many different devices as possible. The dispute that television networks are starting to awaken to the possibilities of threats posed by the internet and losing its youthful user base cannot be denied. Hence the format of TV is also changing and more people are now opting for viewing their favorite programs on the computer or the laptop. However there is a dual impact of this theory because these gadgets are relatively new and hence the fascination with the same has led to the random use of these gadgets and decline of the TV. The TV era had created the same impact on the earlier generations with its advent. However the use of the TV for getting larger than life images and the LCD sizes getting bigger are actually boosting viewing of the same. Hence the technological advancements in these areas have to be reviewer to understand if this is actually the end of the TV era.
